The Experience visited in Sandy River 01/28/14

This trip was about watching primary and secondary succession in the area where people in 2006 destroy the wall that was stored the dam in the Sandy River, they did that to give to the river the free and natural way. Giving  the opportunity to the fish go and reproduced their species. The Sandy river start in the mountain so we were close to it. The place where were destroy the wall; that land is the government and  they have been reforested that area and it become a secondary succession because they prepare the soil to plant because of the wall of cement.

It was amazing how the Sandy rivers work for itself, around the bank we can see a primary succession a tropical forest where we can find a good soil for trees can grow, also into the forest there are many seeds of different species who is trying to find sun light to grow so they some times fight with each other to have the opportunity to be part of the forest. It is a place where you can go to visit any body can go and walk there to enjoy the beautiful nature that we can find there.

  1. Hi Lili, Your grade is 7/10. You missed 3 points because your assignment was turned in one day late, and because you did not use enough references to the ecology of the place. There was not primary succession on the place, only secondary succession. When you have a disturbance and there is still soil left there is secondary succession.
